Support for the next step on your path:

Coaching, Consultation, & Mentoring

Coaching

Are you feeling stuck—perhaps not sure of what’s next for you, or feeling unable to take the needed next steps for your professional growth? I’ve been providing ACT-informed coaching to professionals for nearly 15 years, and one tool I use is the Mindful Action Plan, which combines ACT with performance management principles to help you move forward in service of your values. (If you’d like to read more about the MAP, check out my book with DJ Moran, Finding Your Why and Finding Your Way).

In coaching, we will work together on clarifying your values, setting goals, identifying internal and external barriers to progress, and then taking committed action for the next step on your path. We’ll begin by getting a clearer sense of what’s important to you, so your decisions can be guided by your values and purpose. Through weekly or biweekly meetings, an asynchronous co-working space, and access to my “Do More…” course material, I’ll provide hands-on support for you to:

  • Learn values-based time and project management skills, noticing and organizing your own behavior and context to more effectively use your time

  • Develop clinical systems to support your workflow and free up time for your most meaningful work

  • Create values-based project plans, including long-term and short term goals and weekly tasks reflecting your committed actions

  • Create a long-term plan for your own professional growth and leadership skills

  • Establish a self-reflective practice that keeps you continually moving along your chosen path with curiosity and self-compassion, prioritizing and actively choosing how you spend your time

I’ll also provide hands on developmental support (from outlining to editing) to help you at all points in your process—whether you are creating workshops and training materials, curricular frameworks, clinical materials, or writing projects from blog posts to dissertations.

Together we’ll get you doing more of what you care about, and less of what you don’t. Please contact me to schedule a chat about how I can support you.

Consultation

I am first and foremost a practitioner when it comes to being a “scientist-practitioner”—I’ve been working in the field for nearly 30 years and I am privileged to be able to share my experience and knowledge for others to learn from. I have worked in, developed, and directed early intervention programs for autistic children and their families; built systems of service delivery and quality assurance for school districts, community and home programs; and have been consulting to individuals and organizations in a range of contexts both “at home” and globally for most of my career.

I currently focus my consultation practice on supporting generative language development in early childhood—supporting behavior analysts, small organizations, and families as they support their learners. My practice includes:

  • Specific, targeted consultation to BCBAs for complex case issues

  • Support for small organizations building clinical systems for quality assurance

  • Intervention program consultation and coaching for parents who do not have access to local expertise, parents who have a behavior analytic background and are directing their child’s program, or when existing local consultants would like additional support. Program consultation can be virtual, in-person, or a combination, depending on client location and program needs.

Together, we’ll dig into the complexity of language and how best to support your clients, your organization, or you and your family. Please contact me to schedule a chat about how I can support you.

Early career mentoring

As a new practitioner, you may feel overwhelmed by client needs, juggling time and tasks, and all the “stuff” you need to know that you didn’t learn in grad school or from your earlier supervisors. You may have just begun a private practice, or you may be working within another agency, but looking for additional support.

While I no longer provide fieldwork supervision, I’ve been working with aspiring and newly certified behavior analysts since before there was a BACB. Early career mentoring combines coaching and case consultation (just scroll up for more info!) as you navigate the unique context of your current work.

Together, we’ll create a path to a sustainable future of both professional and personal growth. Please contact me to schedule a chat about how I can support you.
